Are the gang out at the Axbridge top rift Sunday 7th May, or Templeton Mon 8th May ? I feel a deep spiritual need to struggle with muddy rocks again !

On Sunday 6th May I'll be spending 13 hours underground in Redcliffe Caves helping a film company. I'm free on Saturday 5th or Monday 7th for a dig up at The Rift.

Not quite so secret now somebody has posted a picture of the entrance on
U.K. Caving Forum.
Perhaps a slightly more, modern mine, probably lead.
Lots of large shotholes, about three quarters of an inch diameter.
About fifty metres of "passage", if you are a dwarf.

Why if you are a dwarf? Are dwarfs metres a different length to normal metres then?  :-\

Glad to hear it - I hope he manages to reopen the 450' shaft as that would create a monster SRT trip for Mendip!

P.S. I like the ladder - it's an impressive lump of metal!

There are a group of caves in The Upper Velvet Bottom / Blackmoor / Charterhouse Warren area and a lot of mines, most are mines / caves.
Grebe Swallet         (largely, a pre- industrial mine)
Manor Farm            (a cave)
Waterwheel Swallet ( a modified cave)
Stainsby's Shaft      (a Victorian mine shaft)
Blackmoor Cave        (the cave that Stainsby's shaft intercepts)
Blackmoor Swallet     ( the sites where water used to sink / abandoned cave dig)
Roman Rake            ( a Roman Lead mine / cave dig)
Upper Flood Swallet  ( a large cave,  two miles of passage so far found)
Ubley Warren Pot     ( two caves that connect, for the slimmer caver)
M.M. Mine               ( a pre- industrial mine, now re-opened)
Halfpenny Hole         ( a small mined rift)
Rift Mine                 ( quite an easy, interesting mined out rift)

Hope that helps D.P.

You will need to collect the key from M.C.G.
for M.M. Mine

I think it has a fourteen metre tight entrance pitch
which can be s.r.t.'d or laddered.
Halfpenny Hole & Rift Mine are ungated
but Rift Mine is very difficult to locate (if you don't know where it is)
