CAVE RESCUE PRACTICE, AUCTION OF EQUIPMENT AND BBQ SATURDAY 4TH JUNE 2016
The Team will be holding a Cave Rescue practice in Eglwys Faen, testing out, and training people in the use of underground communications including the new Cave Link system, as well as stretcher carrying techniques. The practice will start at 09:30am at Whitewalls, Llangattock.
The rescue practice will be followed by an auction of equipment that has recently been retired from the Team?s equipment store and will include a variety of static and dynamic ropes as well as Petzl hardware such as Grigris, karabiners etc; Ropes in the auction are nearly new and virtually unused and include Edelrid 11mm Superstatic in lengths of 22, 30, 50 & 100m lengths. Other items for auction include tackle bags, VARTA Batteries and other equipment donated to the Team.
The Auction will start at 5:30pm and will be hosted by Pete Francis, a very experienced Cave Rescue Auctioneer from west Wales. Bidding will be extremely lively and with a considerable degree of humour, if past auctions are anything to go by! A BBQ will be held in the Whitewalls garden with Sausages, Burgers, a Vegetarian option, and salad stuffs being on offer, as well as home baked cakes and a barrel of beer. All will be sold at a very reasonable price.
So, if you want to hone your Cave Rescue skills, bid for some equipment, eat food and socialise with SMWCRT Team members and other cavers, please come along to all, or part of the day.
PLEASE SUPPORT YOUR CAVE RESCUE TEAM

Thanks to everyone who came along to last weekend's Rescue Event held at Llangattock. The underground practice in Daren Cilau/ Prices Dig went well with all Cave Link stations tested being successful. Cave link is a remarkable wireless text transmission technology. We also sold a lot of cakes that had been baked by team members. We shifted a good few Welsh Cakes and Bara Brith on the tramroad to members of the public passing by. The auction of recently retired gear was a scream due to auctioneer Pete Francis' witty patter and the evening concluded with a BBQ and barrel of ale. Thanks to everyone who helped, or came along to participate.
