Edelrid have produced the "Bulletproof" hybrid karabiner
Their description: "Innovative, robust hybrid biner with steel insert at the apex of the biner. Prevents premature wear and burrs or sharp edges. Steel insert prevents premature wear from rope friction or bolt hangars.
