WEEKEND ROAD CLOSURES

We would take this opportunity to inform you of a series of proposed full weekend road closures of the A465 Heads of the Valley Trunk Road as detailed below:-

1 06:00 on Saturday June 18th 2016  to 06:00 on Monday June 20th 2016
2 20:30 on Friday July 1st 2016 to 06:00 on Monday July 4th 2016
3 20:30 on Friday July 8th 2016 to 06:00 on Monday July 11th 2016

We will be working at high level above the carriageway in the Gorge in preparation for excavation and removal of rock, the rock face netting, boulders, tree stumps - between Pont Harri and Nany yr Hafod.  Trial rock fracturing, rock breaking and rock transport from between the Welsh Water - Sewage Treatment Works and Water Treatment Work and the switching of traffic in various sections.

We fully acknowledge the effect that these closures have on the local residents and travelling public and we are working with the local Environmental Health Officers from Monmouthshire County Council and Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council to agree the proposed operations. At all times emergency vehicles will be escorted through the gorge, resident crossing points will be available at Station Road, Clydach and Station Road, Gilwern.

We will be providing a minibus service to replace the Stagecoach Service 3 on all three Saturday?s.

The Glanbaiden roundabout will be fully open with traffic from Abergavenny being able to use the roundabout to access Gilwern and Govilon.

As I left work this afternoon, I'm 99% sure I saw a sign saying the closures this weekend (18th June to the 20th) were cancelled.
