Does anybody know where this is a picture of? We suspect that it's in the Peak District. It comes from the David Roberts Slide Collection on the BCRA Online Archive: http://archives.bcra.org.uk/?dir=David+Roberts

Looks a bit like Old Tor Mine above the Winnats.
Perhaps a tad too large. Or maybe that chap is very small.

One suggestion that we have had is 'The Old Oak Tree' in Rutland Cavern, Matlock.

I can see the similarity between the photograph and The Old Oak Tree, but I am having a problem with the scale. The feature in the photograph looks considerably higher than The Old Oak Tree

It's not somewhere like Alderley Edge is it? It has that look about it. What's the object next to him?

Could well be. I've never been myself, but some photographs on the web of West Mine show passages with the same look.
