Jalal - sounds like an amazing cave and fun time, I enjoy geology. 3 km mapped in 3 trips is fast! I think the most I've done in a single trip is ~1500ft, which is about 0.5km. Is Kataleh big open walking passages, I take it?
Glad to know that not all of the middle east is boring sandstone and people are keen to explore. I knew Iran had some caves though, due to the Ghar Paru expedition funding.I had just come back from Jordan, beautiful, safe but no bloody caves except the very short square ones man dug out 2000 years ago.
