Just some info for a friend.
I'm looking for any RECENT information (esp references) as to the origin of the Norber erratic boulders. Anyone help?

There are a few mentions in the Caves and Karst of the Yorkshire Dales (Eds Waltham and Lowe, BCRA 2013)  esp page 48, in the chapter that covers glaciation and quaternary evolution. Most of the recent work however relates to estimating age and denudation rates from pedestals rather than the origins of the boulders themselves. Some of the dating work is covered in the article linked by Bitterend. Caves and Karst of YD contains more references for this work as it sparked debate in the literature.

Dave...
Thinking about the proposal in the reference you quoted......
I thought the Norber erratics are derived from strata of silurian age.

Is there any Silurian strata exposed in Wharfedale, I didn't think there's much if any...
What are your own thoughts on this Dave?

The Caves and Karst of the Yorkshire Dales (cited above) suggests that the boulders originated from crags on the western side of Crummack Dale. In other words not far from where they are now, as Braveduck says.
