Short Drop?

Well done -  :clap2:. This is a photograph taken in 1934 from the Eli Simpson archive held by the British Geological Survey. One of the albums has been digitised by Bob McIntosh, Alan Jeffreys, and John Manchip and is available for viewing on the  BGS website. There are some amazing photographs in the collection.

Short Drop was first explored in 1885 from Gavel Pot by the Gritstone Club, when they used a wooden ladder to overcome the waterfall. Their geography wasn't as good as their caving, though, as they thought it was Low Douk Cave.

Sorry, no prizes for coming second, Beardy...

Over to you, mr goose.

I've never been in Dowbergill so just took a guess. Is that rock bridge still there in short drop?

It is indeed - there are actually two, but this is the most photographed. I try not to hang around under it, as there is a tiny stone on the right hand side that seems to be supporting it.

After spending many hours trying to extricate myself from there, every bulge is firmly imprinted on my memory.

Here's another easy one - PRECISE location, please. Just the name of the cave will be rejected with a 'no'.

Everytime I post my photos no one guesses, or have I posted this one before. It's in Derbyshire btw. If no one guesses it by Tues I will chuck another one on from the Dales.
