This is another of the freestone quarries that has been closed and inaccessible for many years.
According to this link production will begin again in 2009

Apparently earlier this year the backfilled access incline shafts were cleared and inspection work undertaken.
Not sure how old the website page referred to is, but hopefully the current economics wont affect the plans too badly. Who knows, perhaps quarry tours for the interested will be on the cards?
 
Tours were on the go Bri. At the moment a few tours have already been given, although I believe that tours are currently on hold whilst work begins in earnest.
 
Yes, I had heard that from Ditzy, but thought those were only for the invited few - sadly we wernt on the list. Hoping a more accessible scheme of tours maybe forthcoming once things have settled down
