A long walk up Horton Scar Lane. Once at the fell gate turn right and follow the Pennine Way as it heads up Penyghent, after approx 400m a faint path on the right heads over to the classic pothole entrance.

Description

An archetypal Dales pothole, formed on a joint. A stream plunges down the fine daylight shaft, descent is via a ledge to the floor with no way on at the bottom. An interesting climb of 12m provides a connection to Shrapnel Pot.

In the corner of the Hunt Pot shakehole is a small hole - Shrapnel Pot. Care is needed for the first few short pitches to avoid dislodging loose material onto those below. A fine shaft, with a ledge providing a connection to Hunt Pot. A short pitch at the bottom gives access to the deepest part of Hunt/Shrapnel.
