First part of Jim Eyre's autobiography. Details his boyhood in Lancaster, his introduction to Yorkshire caving, then his spell in the navy during the Second World War. Jim recommences caving after the end of the war, and emphasis is given to the early exploration of Easegill, and French and Slovakian expeditions. The book finishes in the 1960's. As always the narrative is told with humour, and several of Jim's famous cartoons are included.
The second part of the autobiography is eagerly awaited.
