Description
The entrance to Mam Tor Swallet lies about 10m north of the road. Sadly as it is formed on the boundary between the Shale of Mam Tor and the underlying limestone, the roof of the entrance is not very solid and it collapsed in 2005. This filled the entrance series with a large amount of small grade rubble
Attempts to dig it out lasted for two sessions before I realised<ref>Tim Webber 2005</ref> how much work would be involved to reopen a very small amount of cave. That and the option of bringing down the rest of the roof on top of you, if you sneeze too hard.
