Meaning "Cave of the dry ford", Ogof Rhyd Sych lies on the Nant-y-glais, a tributary stream of the Taf Fechan.
The cave is best approached by parking near to the Aberglais Inn on the Merthyr Tydfil to Pontsticill road. Walk downhill from the pub and take the public footpath alongside the road bridge over the Nant-y-glais. Follow the footpath north (upstream direction) climbing between trees. After several hundred metres, the footpath drops and crosses a stile to meet the stream at a ford. The cave entrance is a resurgence in the eastern wall (left when looking downstream) of a section of gorge, just downstream of the ford and directly below the stile. There is a slippery climb, which requires care, down a waterfall from the ford to reach the floor of the gorge.
