Located a mile to the east of Hendre.


Access

Locked. Access via Grosvenor Caving Club. Public indemnity insurance is required.

Description

Provides access to the 10mile long Milwr or Sealevel Tunnel and 10's of miles of associated lead and limestone workings. A short adit leads to head of 140m shaft which is split into winding and ladderway sections. A series of laddered stagings (each about 10m in height) descends to base of shaft, with other workings accesible about half way down.

History

Closed in 1986. Headframe and 1930's winding gear moved to the Dalaucothi Gold Mine at Pumsaint, Mid Wales.
