Breadcumbs

I quite like the idea of breadcrumbs emanating from the Main Page to the 'primary' location of each article, as Susie has now implemented in Publications (following it's use in Cave Sites). However, I think there was some talk on the forum about this being contrary to the wiki model. Thoughts ?? --RobinGriffiths 20:28, 9 January 2007 (GMT)

I think that a) it's useful to know what section of the wiki one is in; and B) if you reach a page by an indirect route it's useful to be easily back up to the page's main section - Susie

Yes. I suppose the caving wiki, being substantially less in scope than wikipedia, the articles more legitimately hang off a single main entry point (Main Page) rather than being accessed through the Search functionality.--RobinGriffiths 21:29, 9 January 2007 (GMT)

Area Specific

I was wondering whether, rather than having a 'Guide Book' section, an Area Specific section might be more useful, with guidebooks having their own subsection within the Area Section. Thinking about such books as 'Limestone and Caves of the Peak District' which might fit better under a Peak District subarea?

I agree - the whole publications section needs further sub-categorisation. As you suggest, guidebooks should be categorised by region: e.g. Peak District, France, etc. We will also need sections like "France- General" for authors like Casteret, Lavaur, Tazieff, Chevalier, Cadoux etc. - Susie
