Hi guys after our amazing trip to italy and scicily (it's not that great lol) we have decided to spend the last 4 days in the vercors. Advice on the best area to go for fairly easy non vertical caving would be great however we do have srt gear with us but only have a 15m and 30m rope. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

You could try looking at the book on Vercors Caves and there are other publications on the area, difficult to obtain if you are the road though. Myself and others have these for sale

The Grotte de Gournier is excellent. You will get wet though unless you've got a lllo to get across the entrance lake.

The Grotte de Bournillon is another easy one on the opposite side of the Bourne Gorge. Its impressive in flood.

The Bourne Gorge is well worth stopping off at. You can even buy discounted equipment from Expe, at the bottom of the Gorge in Pont en Royans. Sorry I can't help with any description links. Expe sell guidebooks

Hey mate. I'd be really interested in where you went and what you thought once you're done there as I am heading there for the first time next month

So the bit of advice I would give is get a guide book from England before you go because you won't get one here. Plan your trip get accurate cave locations and it should be ok. I spent a day yesterday trying to find a cave found it and there were bloody birds nesting in the entrance. I've spent 4 hours today looking for a cave with absolutely no luck. Next time I'm coming prepared. Bournillion is worth a look.

In case you're still looking for something simple and horizontal, try Grotte Roche in Villard-de-Lans. Trivial to find, just off the road really.

For something vertical, I think Pot du Loup can be done with 150m of rope, if it's cut right. Also, the cave is easy to find: the pot is right next to a wide path.

The Gournier is brilliant and very easy to find! Don't forget to ask permission at the show cave. It's got the best streamway I've ever been in!

Gour Fumant's a fine cave ? your 145 m of rope would probably get you to the bottom (depending on the lengths, I guess).
