Definitely not caving, but they were a limestone quarry & closed to canal boats (except for our escort) on an organised tour.

Returning through Netherton Tunnel, which is normally off-limits to canoes.

There would be.

Dudley is on limestone. Hence Dudley Bugs (Trilobites).

Yes, I've had that pencilled in for a while. I think on one of the combos you can spend the whole day chugging away.

There's a 45 min trip that does a loop through the quarry caverns, 2 hours that goes to the end of the Dudley Tunnel & back and a 6 hour trip that does a loop through 2 sets of locks & returns through the Netherton Tunnel (but only runs on certain days). It also backs on to the Black Country Living Museum, which is apparently worth a visit.

Nice pictures. Here in Belgium we also have such kind of abandonned boat tunnels. With lots of concretions/stalls.
