Does anybody else get pissed off with the UKC spell checker? Is it possible to turn it off?

It's probably a setting in your bruiser, not the forum ;)

If Chrome, go to Advanced Settings, scroll down and you eventually get to Spell Check, probably others are similar

The one that constantly changes what I write. So, for example, if I try to write 'pre-decimalization' it changes it to 'pre-decimalisation' and I have to go back over it and try again.

Is this on a PC or some other device (smart phone, tablet)?
Pretty sure that is a browser issue
In Firefox on my PC I get told when a spelling is "wrong" (it underlines the suspect word) but I get to decide if I want to change it. In my phone it changes words automatically as I type.
All of these can be turned off in the settings of the browser or device. It isn't a behaviour of UK Caving but is the Browser or device...

If it's "American" spellings, it is possible to change the language settings for the browser so it recognises English words. In Firefox you need to install a UK English dictionary instead of the US English one. However, you can just turn the spell checking off...

Well the second spelling is the British one. As Leslie says it's probably your browser.

I don't understand why someone whose posts have always shown a high standard of literacy should now want to misspell a word.
Is this some sort of perverse new-year resolution?
