Exporting from Qave

Hi All,
I just started toying with Android based survey programs and while I like the feel of Qave I am at a loss as to how you export the file. When I try export to any of the programmes it suggests, it tells me "No File Manager has been found on this device. Please install IO File Manager". It then leads me to a link on Google Play Store, where it announces that no such thing is available? Can any one help me as to what I need do?? All the best and thanks!

OI File Manager is needed because it has root access, and it gives access to additional folders and directories that are normally hidden from the phone users.

I'm not sure of the exact reason it keeps getting removed from the Play store it but it's probably because it's open source and may not meet Android's security/compatibility guidelines

Anyway, OI File Manager can easily be downloaded from a number of places online as an .apk file which, when opened, should install on your phone and allow you to export from Qave.

Here's one place you can get it.

I don't use it in anger, but as well as the OI file manager, it might be an idea to try DriveSync as well.

I only use topodroid on other people's phones, but have a "burner" android which has a copy of topodroid on it for training purposes.
I've got a piece of android software called DriveSync, which syncs the folder (which you'll choose with OI File manager) with a file in my Google drive. this means that as soon as the phone is on wifi (or 3g/4g) the data is being sent straight to the cloud.

A quite useful tool which stops you having to play around with memory cards.

If you've not already spotted him then Derek Bristol is on hand. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rkg9Z3nWQ8M&feature=youtu.be
