Hidden Earth 2021 Cancelled

We are sorry to have to announce that due to the uncertainty caused by the pandemic Hidden Earth 2021 has been cancelled.

We tried our best but a major problem has been that many venues are still unwilling to take bookings for indoor public events, even to the end of 2021. As it takes several months to organise Hidden Earth, we have now reached the point where it is necessary to make the decision to cancel. As many of you will have heard, Wendy Williams has also been ill which has of course added to the difficulties this year.

The good news is that we have a venue in mind for 2022, which we will try to book as soon as we can. Looking forward to it!

Keep an eye on UKC, Facebook and the website for updates.

Don't despair, Kendal Mountain Festival will be taking place as a hybrid event again this year.  Dates are provisionally 18-21 November but will go on-line as last year if covid restrictions remains an issue.  The underground session caters for cavers but there is much to enjoy either in Kendal or on-line or both.  Kendal is said to be the largest mountain festival in the world by jove.

The on-line underground session was watched by around 1000 people last year. Many will be cavers but the event does gain interest from other adventure folk. I'm volunteering as usual to programme the cave night event.  I have some good ideas for this year already but if anyone wants to get in touch with their own presentation or film proposals please do.  PM or use the ukcavemail@gmail.com address

Cheers
Tim

That's a real shame, so it's not such a long wait, maybe host it earlier in the year for 2022?
