This says during WW1: https://www.thegowersociety.org.uk/news-and-events?id=44&returnURL=news-and-events

Assuming he was Edward C., then could be:

This mentions him being a keen archaeologist:

Wiltshire museum has some of his material:

His dad Ben was curator of the museum:

His mother later excavated Woodhenge (father & great grandfather also get a mention):

They get regularly mentioned in Wiltshire archaeological & natural history magazine:

He & his mother were actually boarding at Rhossili when the 1911 census happened (apparently with other archaeologists, although she was originally from Glamorgan):

A lot of the reports say the cave was excavated by Edward C. (Ned) between 1914 & 1919, but that could have been his father Edward Benjamin Howard (Ben) Cunnington, as Ned was in Egypt during 1916 & France 1917-18 (& died there - although he did have leave periods in between).

Mum was awarded a CBE shortly before she passed away:

Although Ben seems to have been more interested in Wiltshire archaeology, whilst Maud & Ned regularly visited the Gower. More on Maud:
