Dig near Hurnell Moss Pot

I went for a walk on Ingleborough today and came across a scaffolded shaft at the base of a reasonable-sized shakehole vaguely south of Hurnell Moss Pot. At any rate, it is the next good-sized shakehole beyond Hurnell Moss.

Looking in Northern Caves it appears the shake is probably Newby Moss Cave & Sink, although the description of what is there doesn't seem to match with what I found.

Anyone know anything about it? It seems to be being actively dug but in shorts and t-shirt with no light I couldn't really find out more than that. There was a tackle sack nearby with what seemed to be WCG on it ... but I don't know of a club with those initials.

I remember looking at the shakehole (plenty of digging related material lying around) when I was on a Hurnell Moss trip some years back..
From what I recall reading in some article somewhere it was Newby Moss Cave and it was now something like 100m deep?

It's certainly not a WSG dig. Our digs are centred in South Wales only, and then only on Pant Mawr. I'd agree that Yorkshire Ramblers are your best bet and sure there was a presentation at "Hidden Earth" a few years ago at the Northern Roundup session. There is a "WCG" though (according to Google)- Wirral Caving Group apparently.

It was either Caves & Caving or Descent - or more likely both.. One of them had a section survey of the cave.

A quick nosey on the net revealed this from C&C 86/Winter 99 - "YRC find large fault (Sealey's Fault) under Newby Moss"
