I don't have any usefull information for you but look forward to reading your trip report as this is a trip I would love to do. It is just asking to be done on the 25th. Any takers?

I ticked it on a lovely crisp, snowy Boxing day three years ago. The entrance was in a shakehole adjacent to a shored up scaffolded hole - I'm not sure what this is, or indeed if it is still shored up and scaffolded!

My records show a 40m rope for the entrance pitches rigged from a stake to a succession of hangs requiring 7 krabs. A blocky wriggly crawl follows to the next drops which require a 30m rope starting with a thread and requiring 4 krabs. It is all eco bolted. This lands you in the lower parts of Grange Rigg next to some good formations. That was as far as I went.

Hope this info. is of use, and, more to the point, accurate! Make sure there is a knot in the end of your ropes, just in case!

Once you've got to the end of Hammy's ropes, the rigging for Grange Rigg is in "Not the for Feint Hearted".

If you don't have a copy, I don't remember the pitches needing much more than a "normal" amount of rope for pitches i.e. two-and-a-bit times the stated pitch depth.

More than likely going on the location..

As for Christmas Pot - did (part of) it a while back and we used about 40m for the entrance, just short of 30m for second and third. Then the fourth (Grange Riggs fifth) was climbed in two parts, the second part with the aid of a sling or two. Last pitch we had already used the rope on a previous pitch so had to turn back but you need about 12-15m for that.

All p-bolted with one or two naturals.
Nice little trip.
