Brexit...

Roads are definitely at about 60-70% busy as far as I can tell, which is why it's taking so long for the virus and lockdown to go away, this lockdown will go on for many months more? This like I said I am sick of it, I am being good working from home, not travelling etc, but everyone else appears to be out and about as normal. If they make lock-downs just about affordable i.e. allow you to work, but you are not allowed to do anything enjoyable, then that's fine by them, they don't care, and they will happily do it again and again. So all we become is mindless slaves working all day and not being able to live life (at least that's what it feels like sometimes). Otherwise we would have locked down hard and short and we would already be coming out of lockdown now.

I am sure thanks to Brexit, the gov will continue this removing the enjoyment from life, such as removing works rights, removing holiday entitlement now they can etc, so we end up like America with there 5 days of annual leave as it makes the big boys more money (debatable).

On the other hand lockdowns do still cost lot of money but maybe as far as the Tories think, well that's "the next government's problem!". I mean they obviously don't even care about jobs, only their own pockets, otherwise Brexit would not be a thing or we would have at least stayed in the EEA (there was no vote to leave that!). Remember the Tory moto: "F$%^ bussiness". More bleakness as whoever is in charge will have a right royal mess to sort out with the economy and the masses of debt from 3 ineffective lock-downs.

So on the one hand they seem to want to protect the economy by allowing people to work at the expense of actually fighting the virus, but then they appear to be perfectly happy to screw other parts of the economy i.e. no support for air travel, insufficent support for Hospitality, screwing anyone who exports to the EU, with the Brexit mess.

My conclusion? The government does not know it's arse from the hole it just blew in the ground, and they are merely completely incompetent, and I wonder why did so many people vote for these F-wits, I know Corbyn was bad, but surely he could not be as bad as this bunch of clowns. The one thing they got right (vaccine rollout) may turn out to be a complete mess as it's the wrong one and don't protect from the new strains, unlike some of the vaccines.

Cameron didn't actually expect the UK public to vote for Brexit, Boris used the opportunity to increase his own power base, but never foresaw a pandemic hitting at the same time. They obviously don't want to lockdown at all, but have been forced to by the numbers involved & public opinion. They do have a pretty good grasp on the consequences but no idea as to the solution.

& the vaccine was the first available, so of course it was the one that got rolled out.

You must live in a different reality to me!

I know Corbyn was bad

Is that based upon personal experience, or something perceived via Murdoch (& Co)'s filter?

Based on his flip flopping and unrealistic/unbelievable promises, however I agree I might have been influenced myself. Still, I still voted for him as I knew what the alternative was. (as it was tactical to do so where I live)!

With regards to what? Brexit? you just need to look at all the businesses having to pay extra costs to export to Europe, companies that export shellfish having to shut after 70 years. Not to mention the big issues with Ireland and the border down the Irish sea causing the troubles to start again, the fact that we may loose our financial sector to Europe? The fact that we will loose Scotland and Ireland... need I go on?

Off topic though, but you need to be more specific?

That won't be "finished" for a loooong time yet. Irrespective of what people thought of it, or voted for, the fallout from the implementation of it will be felt for a very long time to come.

Possibly not for everyone but I have to admit for my family it is , nothing else we can do via carry on ! All the food drinks still in shop has not made any negative impact on me but I don?t deal over seas am sure it affects many people and still will for a while yet we shall come out better though that?s one thing

It was never going to stop overnight. It'll happen in dribs and drabs, as things become uneconomical to import. I doubt you'll better for it, unless you're incredibly well off.

Presumably you don't live in Northern Ireland...

Also the Lorries may not be waiting at the docks, but instead in a big car park in Kent, not at the docks, some taking several days to leave, at least that was things a few weeks ago.

It's only getting started... the reason food etc is not affected too badly at the moment is that we are not applying most customs rules at our end, that comes in, in June/July, then you might start to see empty shelves and prices going up a lot more.

Oh don't forget Brussels are likely to kick our banking system out in March now we are a 3rd country (The decision was held off as it was not included in the original so-called deal)

So from what I can see the future is very bleak indeed, especially with all the problems we currently have just being the beginning... just wait until/if lock down is over and trade gets back to normal, then you will see the ques when they run out of parking space in Kent, both for truck drivers and then holiday coming into the mix makers, if we are actually allowed to travel/EU would let us in that is (which they may not if they don't trust our vaccine). Remember how long it takes when one car is checked in 20, now imagine how long it takes when its now 1 in 4 or 1 in 3 confiscating everyone's ham sandwich caving food etc. Good luck getting things like caps and that through now too, it's going to make expeditions more difficult that's for sure.

One of the reason we are doing so badly in this pandemic is there about 20k nurse vacancies in the NHS as most of these were EU citizens who decided to return to Europe rather than stay in a country that seems to hate them, so Brexit argument is relevant.

Very bleak indeed. The sooner I can emigrate the better, but oh wait I can't now because Brexit took that right too!

I for one will never get behind the Brexit, it's a disaster and sooner everyone realises that the better, so lets accept our mistake rejoin the EEA and get allow freedom of movement, we don't have to join the EU fully but we should be trading similar to Norway a sovereign nation, I should add (like all EU countries too).

All very good points but you have to think of the long turn of countries that are very successful, their is good proof we was spending 250 million a week for being in the eu also strong proof on 19 billion a year you really think saving all of this won?t help towards these things when we are back on are feet . Borris started at the worst time possible and I think he has dealt with it all the best as possible . Everyone can find faults no matter what happened/ happens that?s life , at least he got it finished no one else could of done that their all useless  !

The guy's not even capable of running a corner shop. He's only there because of glutinous patronage and a political system that allows genetic and intellectual failures to rise to the top, mainly as their dad is rich. In any normal society he'd be sat on a street corner holding out a cup. Even his own 'partner', who he has a child with, stands more than 2m away in public. I can't see the appeal either. He's completely and totally responsible for all of this.
