ResCon is the British Cave Rescue conference, which is a bi-annual gathering of British cave rescue volunteers (and others with a passing interest in caving and cave rescue techniques and equipment) to be held on the Mendips, over the weekend of the 6th to the 8th September 2019 and hosted by Mendip Cave Rescue. Participants will have the opportunity to attend talks on rescue techniques as well as join in surface or underground practical workshops including specialist techniques such as cave diving (for divers and non-divers), vertical hauling, underground communication technology and gas monitoring. We are planning on holding some sessions for people who have had little involvement with cave rescue, but are interested in finding out how cave rescues are organised. Saturday night will include a bar, hog roast (and veggie alternative) and music, along with this years "Wessex Challenge", which is a team obstacle course that has become a Mendip caving tradition, this year hosted by the Wessex Caving Club following their victory last year.

Tickets are now available, priced at ?50 for the weekend, with a reduced price if you buy a ticket before the 1st of July, or are in full time education. Tickets include camping, food, tea & coffee - basically everything except drinks at the bar. Tickets are now available from https://rescon.eventbrite.co.uk and more information will be available very shortly from the website at https://www.rescon.org.uk/ or from facebook at https://www.facebook.com/ResCon19. Tickets for just one day, or just the saturday evening, are also available.

A reminder that the BCRC Rescue Conference is going to be taking place next weekend, based in Priddy on the Mendips. Brief summaries of a number of the talks and practical sessions, along with an outline programme, are now on the website http://www.rescon.org.uk/ and facebook page https://www.facebook.com/events/447010369438863/. Tickets for the weekend, or just part of the weekend, are still available.

Thanks to all who came along this weekend, we hope that you all had a good time. Thanks in particular to all who helped ensure that the weekend went smoothly - giving presentations, helping with the practical sessions, setting up and taking down the marquee etc.

Some photos from the event will be appearing on the facebook page (at https://www.facebook.com/ResCon19) over the coming days. If anyone has photos from the weekend that are happy to share then it would be great to see them :)

Hope to see you all again soon - possibly at Hidden Earth in a few weeks time.

A big thank you from Suzanne and I to the organisers and volunteers, it was a great weekend! We particularly enjoyed some of the talks which reflected on past call-outs with an aim of improving how future call-outs are managed - a very valuable discussion.

I only visited for the Saturday evening, and im glad i did. The organisers did a sterling job and the band were awesome. The Wessex challenge was a complete hoot. So much fun and games.
Thanks again to the organisers

We do have a handful of the multi-functional neckware we had made up for ResCon left over in red only - please message me if you are interested in purchasing one, either local on Mendip, Hidden Earth or postage at cost. They are ?10 each and profits go to Mendip Cave Rescue.
