Cave Girls!

So I decided to start actually putting on paper a few ideas...did the first two today, more incoming! I'm not sure which section of the fora this should go in so mods feel free to move...there isn't exactly an art section haha.

My first one one...went for a TAG looking cave and in fact to get the perspective I used a photo I took of Pipeside Pit haha.

And number two! This one I went for more Dales look...lots 'o water (although some of the trickling down can't see in the scan ah well) tight spaces, darker limestone and more mud than pits like Pipeside, and here we'd just figure out how to rig that thing in one but I had advice from one of your own for how to draw the ropes :D Also note the oversuits and wellies!

Insomnia sucks but it means you get a lot of drawing done...

For this one my inspiration was Gaping Gill but obviously I took liberties haha.

Less than you think.
Gaping Gill can flood severely in the main chamber, although you are unlikely to find cavers there at the same time. I hope!

Ah I didn't know that! At least they are in wetsuits. =)

this one is brill! i love the little smiley face at the bottom  :)
Thanks! Inspiration for that one came from Sunset Dome inside Hidden River. Bar non the muddiest trip I've ever been on. Half of the trip back there is climbing up and down HUGE mudbanks and spending half of /that/ time falling on your arse sliding around! It's a riot, and takes longer than ya think it should - it is a show cave and the first half of the trip is on tourist path. Climbing in mud is hard work! And it totally floods, I mean TOTALLY, sometimes. When I was there, there were signs that the last flood had covered the mud mounds so uh, good luck waiting out floods on top if it's a bad one! And it floods a lot too so it's one of those to reallly watch the weather on, as it is the sole drainage for quite a few rivers and streams (8 or 11 or something like that?) and a LOT of acreage  I was told, so it rains and it just floods fast. The river crossings were at the highest when I was there that the trip leader had seen it too, what was usually shin/knee deep was over my head in a few spots, chesthigh the rest. Totally worth it though, the mud was fun (we had to trowel steps into it to even have a prayer of climbing them) and then Sunset Dome is pretty amazing... 5 acre dome room....very impressive :D

(I did NOT take this photo, it was photo of the month for our grotto, taken by my friend John Sies, you can see another friend of mine, Missy, in orange by the rock for some scale...haha)

or both...
I'm not going to the NSS one and it's past entry deadlines to my knowledge. I was gonna submit some photos to the print salon there because one of the former (and i think reigning?) winner was telling me I should and which ones, hah, but I've not got the money to print & mat them at this point. Perhaps Hidden Earth =)

Taking a break whilst waiting for a software mod before diving back into a virtual cave world of millions of 3D laser scan points.

Here are a few more :

Cave surveyors are magnetically inclined
Cave surveyors do it with side legs
Cave surveyors have magnetic personalities
Cave surveyors do it graphically
Cave surveyors do it with a pencil
Cave hydrologists are a dying breed
Cave hydrologists do it until they are all wet
Cave rescuers do it one stretch at a time
Cave rescuers can revive anything
Cave diggers never shut their gob
Cave diggers do it with poles
Cave diggers do it with braces
Cave diggers are better bangers
Cave diggers do it deeper than divers
Cave diggers make the earth move
Cave diggers do it with tools
Cave diggers do it with a bang
Cave diggers pump all day
Cavers hate bottoming out
Cavers have crabs
Cavers do it on rope
Cavers do it down under
Cavers sink deeper shafts
Cavers go down fast
Cavers bring flashlights to see better down there
Cavers work well in the dark
Cave photographers like exposing themselves
Cave photographers do it with enlargers
Cave photographers make things develop
Cave photographers work well on many settings
Cave photographers are very focused
Cave photographers can make small things look big
Cave photographers work well from many different angles
Cave photographers zoom in and out
Cave photographers shoot in many different positions
Old cave photographers never die, they just fade away
Mine explorers are always adit
Speleologists make a science of going deeper
Cave guides can show you the way
Cave riggers get knotted
Cave riggers like to screw
Cave riggers do it with screw drivers
Cave divers tow the line
Cave divers throw their weight around
Cave divers are always on the bottle
Cave divers like groping in the dark
Cave divers do it with buddies
Cave divers do it under extreme pressure
Cave divers do it for reel

and finally

there is more that could be said about cave photographers but they already get too much exposure.
Such a dark thought !

Now let's end it there.

I dunno being a biochem/math nerd I like this one lots:
"Cave surveyors always sin"

I kept reading it as sin as in short for sine. I have yet to learn surveying (it's soooo on my list but gotta get somewhere with a survey team to do that, which is harder than it sounds where I currently live as the survey projects closest are in southern Indiana, an eight hour drive away) but I assume basic trig fxns are used.
