?Discovering Caves? by Tony & Anne Oldham (1972) First Edition.

A wonderful little book detailing the many show caves around the UK. Included (for each cave) are the details so often missing from other references, such as; the likely duration of your visit, the distance to explore (in your Sunday best), the name of the owners and, of course, opening times and parking facilities. Add to that a super description of each cave (with photographs) and you have a smashing reference book.

But wait, there?s more ?. (and this is not a TV shopping channel) ?.
Also included is a section on how caves are formed as well as a glossary of caving terms. Not only that but you are also impressed with a short section on ?how to go caving?. If that is not enough, there is a list of additional reading material to devour if you find your appetite whet.

The format of this book and the accompanying photographs throughout make it a very easy (and valuable) read. Pretty impressive for 1972 especially since we had no internet back then, right?

A small tome of showy splendour.

;)
