Have been wanting to get a caving tattoo for a long time, but been held back by being indecisive about which tattoo to get. Please help me brainstorm some caving-related tattoos!!

So far I've been thinking of:
- a collection of notable formations from Easegill (ie. the colonnades, bob's boss, painter's palette, fire hydrant, etc.)
- looking towards the waterfall in bullpot of the witches from the bottom of the chimney
- a lil SRT dude

and yes I'm serious about this  :D

Whereabouts are you planning to have it? I'm guessing if it's an underground shot it'll have a 'frame' of some sort? Darkness fading out to skin-tone might be quite tricky?

Yeah if it ends up being an underground shot then it will have a frame, ideally the frame will be the shape of a cave entrance! Which cave entrance is yet to be decided

Do you know Phil Wharton (ex-DUSA)? He's got a pretty epic cave tattoo that's worth checking out.

Jubilee Cave near Malham is pretty tasty as an entrance - I made a t-shirt design from an outward-looking shot with masking, but that only works on a black background! But it looks like I have a big hole (and a tiny person) in my chest if I stand against a white wall, so that's pretty cool I guess. The outdoor shot might work, and you're welcome to trace that if you don't find anything better :)

Browgill's a nice-looking entrance . . . . but would you want a whole load of black ink surrounding it?

How about I get your face tattooed on my arse if you get my arse tattooed on your face?

Other ideas:

- a "tramp stamp" of a caver descending into your crack
- Andy Eavis but in the style of the Che Guevara poster every student used to have
- a Petzl Duo with a disappointed face next to it
- Krab around the nipple
- Draenan survey as a back piece
- Duncan Price in the bath
- the wording of the BCA participation statement on your thigh
- Josh Bratchley snoopy loops photo
- a wellie but tattooed life size, on your foot
- that cliche one people do of the planets in a line, but instead of planets it's the Petzl diagrams from the side of descenders
- the NUCC logo of the lion made of all the caving kit, or really just any of their t shirt designs
- one of the Wizards from namho

Hope this helped!

I can recommend trialling designs in glitter first :p

Mind you, a detailed survey of OFD or the Thr? Counties (properly kept up to date) could be useful if you are in there and get lost.

Tattoos are crazy unless you are at an advanced age. I look all these people and think what they'll look like with blurred smears all over them in a few years time. I also have a nice photo in my collection of a bas relief tattoo where the ?victim? reacted to the cinnabar in the red ink.  If you must have a tattoo get a fake one you can remove. Still I think the tattoo removal specialists will be doing a roaring trade in about 20 years time so anybody wants a career in this field that's a tip from me.
