Found Sunday 26th September but may have been there before.

Send us a PM if you've lost anything and we can see about arranging caver post to get it back to you.  (y)

Not CRO kit from one of there many rescues up there? Or one of their members personal kit so try at the CRO hut?

Thanks Alex - it's not marked "CRO".

Good point though; if no-one claims it I could wave it around the Clapham depot next time I'm in there.

I reckon it's been left there as a prank to see how long some well-meaning person will attempt to return it to its rightful owner. I'd just get it in the tackle bag if I were you. Or send it to the National Museum of Vintage Caving Equipment (aka Mark Wright) to see if they can work out whether it's pre or post-war at least :)

If it's not claimed soon it might be in danger of getting converted into a lightweight diving harness for sumps down potholes . . . .    ;)

Looks surprisingly similar to this thing found under a mattress at the Wessex some years back.....

The red & blue item looks similar to the chest harness that Dragon caving used to make. It  was the most comfortable chest harness I've ever had. Depends a lot on your shape/size though!

Last call for the owner of this fine item. Been looking after it for 6 weeks now; likely to be chucked if no-one claims it this week.

I tried . . .

Can't someone just pretend it was theirs to save it from the bin? I would, but can't face the caver-post sitcom that will no doubt follow :)

I can modify it and use it for something myself if necessary. If you look at the picture the front strap is completely knackered anyway. But before I transmogrify it into a new life, I wanted the owner to have every opportunity to claim it back.

I'll leave it until the end of the week then decide what to do with it.

Nowt wrong with caver post phhole - our fellow cavers provide a wonderful service (I do it too) and besides, I enjoy the challenge of sorting the logistics.  ;)
