DESCRIPTION OF THE EVENT
Following the past successful experience, the Municipality of Custonaci and CIRS, with the high patronage of UNESCO Chair on Karst Education, are organizing the second edition of "Inside and Outside the Mountain"; meeting, divulgation and excursion days on subjects related to Earth and Natural Sciences, to be held in Custonaci (Sicily) from 27 May to 5 June 2016.
Significant news compared to last year edition, mainly focused on the presentation of scientific works, is the proposal of a greater number of activities in the field, for hikers, cavers and students, and the realization of seminars and workshops focused on practical and applied aspects, with recognition and classification of the data dealt with in the classroom meetings.
The topics of the workshops will be based on geology, karst geomorphology, palaeontology, with particular reference to the territory of Trapani. Some of them will also be supported by laboratories with fossils and rocks observation. To these a number of excursions will be linked aimed at testing and direct field observation of what is shown during the workshops.
The event is addressed to geologists, biologists, paleontologists, archaeologists, naturalists and professionals involved in various studies and investigations relating to the natural environment, karst, caves and their protection, as well as hikers, cavers, university students, graduate students and young researchers who have an interest in deepening topics covered in their educational or professional path.
The invitation is also addressed to the Natural Park Authorities, Natural Reserves and Museums, to hikers and caving associations, to which an exhibition space is proposed for the divulgation and promotion of their activities both in the Sicilian and Italian context more generally.
The territory of Capo San Vito Mounts and Custonaci in particular, mainly of carbonate and karst nature, is an ideal place where to carry out the above mentioned activities of scientific and speleological type in particular, because of the many cavities present, some of which of considerable charm and also for hiking through the beauty and variety of its landscape, from the coastal strip up to the summit of its mountains, enclosed between two wonderful seas.

General information:
? Participation to the excursion ?Along the karst paths of Zingaro? of the 27/28 May, organized in the context of Zingaro Reserve program of activities, requires a pre-registration and the payment of a fee of 10,00 ?. This excursion requires an overnight stay in the refuges of Sughero area and, in this regard, participants must have their own food and sleeping bag for the evening/night of 27 of May.
? Participation to the didactics days and excursions from1st to 5th June, which for logistic reasons is with close number, it needs a pre-inscription and the payment of a fee of ? 35,00.
The excursions for cavers will be carried out to the achievement of a minimum of participants.
The 2nd circular is expected to the end of May.
