Just like caves are home to demons, hideous trolls, enormous spiders and dragons.

Peter Benchley is responsible for the deaths of thousands of sharks with that moronic film. Now we have another -" Mega."

Hmm, need to set the record the record straight then.  How about a film called 'Daisy'?  Could have taglines like 'you'll never go into the muddy field again', and 'you're gonna need a bigger combine.'  Could get the Wurzels or similar to hum theme tune, 'mooooo moo...  mooooo moo... moo moo moo moo moo.

Agree that sharks get a pretty bad press for no good reason.

"Tamara Drewe" has a killing by cows. But that may well have been because they couldn't find a shark in the English countryside.

I get what Laurie is on about. It is all about public perception and how we are motivated by the media. Same with cave rescues and the brave firemen that save us stupid cavers. Hitler could sway a nation by oratory. Social media can move the whole world for good or for bad.

More people are killed in tropical countries by coconuts falling on their head than sharks.
Even peanuts can be lethal.

Not much caving going on it seems.

C'mon Nick it's not Peter Benchley it's the Chinese (and, not wanting to be perceiveived as  picking  on them solely, anybody else who consumes it )wanting sharks fin soup that are responsible for all those deaths. Most members of the public  didn't go out killing sharks after seeing the film or reading the book.

They were apparently all sets, unlike the white water rafting which was filmed on the tummel & orchy.
