The next DCA meeting is on the 27th of October in Monyash. This meeting is open to all members and prospective members. Anyone wishing to join should get in touch via the DCA website www.thedca.org.uk.
We are currently without a Secretary and are looking for one or two volunteers to take this role on. In the short term, DCA need someone to take the minutes at this meeting. All you need to do is record what is said and decided. Once typed up, one of the Officers can distribute to the rest of the committee.
In the next year the DCA is looking at the retirement of almost half its Officers, so if you value our work and want to support it, please act now and volunteer to help. The DCA will not be able to function in the way it has before after next spring without new help.

Just to keep this in people's minds.
The next DCA meeting is to be held in Monyash, at the Village Hall, at 10am on the 27th October. Now, I know that you lot will probably have a plans to go do something more fun, like caving, but the DCA is approaching a possible crisis point. At the next AGM in 2019, the Association is looking at the retirement of over half its Officers. If there are not people willing to take on these roles, or even better, split them down into smaller, more manageable roles, then the DCA will cease to function as it is currently. All the work done behind the scenes to keep Derbyshire cavers and landowners happy may well grind to a halt.
The meeting in October is not about dishing out jobs. It's a chance for you to see how your association functions and how it runs it's business. Come and see what we do, come and see how you might be able to help in future, come and ask us questions - we're your representatives.
If you've enjoyed easy access to our caves and mines, then put this date in your diary. Without support, DCA will not be able to function in the same proactive manner after Spring 2019.

DCA currently is without a Secretary. This role can be split into 3 parts - Meetings Sec, Membership Sec and General Correspondence, all of which can be done by a different person if needed. At the last AGM we received notifications from a number of other posts that they may not stand again in 2019.
Insurance and Legal, Equipment, Newsletter and Publications. We've not heard anything from Access for a while either.
We might fold some roles into others or eliminate something completely.
There is no guarentee any post will not be vacant after spring though. Well maybe not Projects, I'm fairly sure I'll be the only one wanting that still and am happy to continue.

Ignoring the titles for a few minutes, what is more important is the list of specific jobs that are being done by the current team. DCA is happy to take on as many people as possible to share the work and any Officer post can have as many Assistants as needed. Even those of you who don't feel you can/want to take a full post on can help by taking a small bit of the workload on. Many hands make light work etc... The minutes for the last meeting will shortly be published and they contain an action register. Have a look at that if you want to see the kind of day to day things DCA gets up to and see if there is any area you'd (the plural 'you', not Ben specifically) be able to help in.

DCA is currently well served by long standing members and officers. Some of them wish to move on or retire from their roles now, and that is fair enough. DCA could do with taking on some fresh, enthusiastic cavers to help it remain the active and open organisation it is today.
