Yes the bridge is still at the bottom of the lake. Did the trip on Sunday, awesome!

The wires were in very good condition yes, which was a relief! :)
We gave all the fixed gear a good inspection before use and it was all fine. Some of the rope protectors that are down there will probably need changing at some point soon as they were getting a bit worn, which is hardly surprising!
I was thinking of heading back down in the next few months to take out some of the old knackered boats and possibly replacing one of the rope protectors as my contribution to the place!

I would suggest a polite suggestion on your Wiki that people avoid leaving tat down there (old boats etc..)

Cheers

The bridge is well and truly stuck. The cables that formed the handrails/supports are tangled around rocks about 20ft down. We spent a couple of hours trying to recover it soon after it came down, but without a couple of divers, thats where its staying, much to the joy of many it would seem!!!
There is now a knot in the second abseil so im told?

Good stuff - i read online that some divers might have been going to have a go at freeing it but I don't think it's happened yet.

Whoever built the ladder bridge obviously put a lot of effort in but imo I think an old mine should be explored using the existing facilities where possible.

I've marked what I remember was the parking spot in Cwm Croesor on the wiki. Can anyone do a Multimap link to where you would park on the Cwm Orthin side?

If you park where you've marked you'll be unpopular. Given the length of the walk in up the valley anyway, may as well park in the public car park in the village. Its free, and keeps the locals happier  8)

Hey

Would anyone be able to shed the light on somewhere good to stay when going to do this trip for 7 people.

The Tanygrisiau hut is right by the walk up to Rhosydd and also Cwmorthin. Well appointed and reasonably priced.

You can walk up to Rhosydd then carry on over the mountain to Croesor. do the through trip and finish with the walk down to Tanygrisiau. If you carry your caving kit up and change at Rhosydd you can stash your clothes there and they are near the adit 9 exit from Rhosydd when you get through.  (y)

We stayed at Eric Jones' barn at Bwlch y Moch, Tremadog. It's spartan (and chilly in the winter) but Eric's a nice bloke and has done a bit over the years  ;)

I've written as much as I can for this page now. The description is entirely from my memory, so anyone with up to date or more accurate information, feel free to improve it. For instance, I've not mentioned pitch lengths or distances or anything. I've also rather glossed over the Rhosydd side of the trip.

If anyone has any more images they could upload for the page to break up the text and illustrate it better that'd be great.

Over to you experts
