The Old TG2 Soldiers On.

Well we are still short of images here so I took the old Olympus TG 2 down the cave this week to see if we could do something a bit different. So no other equipment just the camera and my helmet light.

With this one I wanted to catch falling water drops. The only answer is multiple shots hoping one is right.

I like water drops. They hint at another world in miniature contained within the drop. With clever editing you could add one.

I had never photographed these helectites before. The black background will always give the illusion of a sharp background with a hand held cheaper camera.

Similiar with these botryoidals.

The TG 2 tends to loose image clarity around the edge of the image so sometimes its best to crop to the central area. Actually with the scratches now on the lens glass its a wonder I get anything acceptable.

Being in the right place. I liked this as the boulder balances the image and gives an illusion of possible danger. Subject above illuminated by Scurion.

People. My favourite subject. His first trip for a while. I wedged back in the rift to get this as he passed on the ladder. A big blob of mud fell on the lens to create that shadow top right. Part of the process as nothing is posed.

Another. Tried to get his face by reflected light. Nearest I ask for a pose.

Almost a pose. I asked him to look up for the face reflection.

Safely at the bottom of the 20m climb. A nice warm glow from his headlamp and my toe.

Must have passed this wall nearly 200 times. Lingered a while this week.

Took about 175 images reducing them to 30. The joy of digital. OK none are technically grand. None will grace the front cover of Descent. It cant always be about perfection can it ? There should always be time for the trivial. A clapped out ?200 camera stuffed in a pocket.

I don't know about not being technically grand - they look pretty flipping good to me!
The falling water drops are remarkable, I've not seen that attempted before  (y)
