Fundraising following 1st June incident at Curtain Pot

Following the incident at Curtain Pot on the 1st June, every member of the team was completely blown away by our friends and supporters generosity when we asked for donations to help towards replacing lost and damaged equipment. In total, over ?14,000 was donated by many generous people, when in reality we had hoped to get maybe ?200-300.
Because this was a multi team effort, together with much needed support and expertise from our Cavers List (experienced cavers who are not team members, but who are prepared to step forward to help for incidents such as this), we have made contributions from the amount raised of ?1500 each to Upper Wharfedale Fell Rescue Association (UWFRA), Swaledale Mountain Rescue Team and to Cumbria Ore Mines Rescue Unit - COMRU. In addition, the funds will pay for personal accident insurance cover for our Cavers List members (when responding to assist us - although this may be solved by the BCA's decision to provide this cover to all caver members) and also fund the training sessions that we will undertake with the List. We will also be able to make the Cavers List available (with their permission) to any other team which requires extra expertise or personnel in future caving incidents.
All of the above is in addition to the replacement of lost and damaged kit, and is only possible due to your generosity. We hope you agree that this is a worthwhile allocation of the funds that you gave.
Thank you all once again.
The Cave Rescue Organisation.
