Laser Technology Inc have just released their TruPulse 360R rated IP56 for dust/water ingress with a range of 1000m and has Bluetooth.

Accuracy reportedly 30cm to 100cm(long range), +/-0.25deg inclination and +/-1 degree azimuth.

Unlike a Disto, this is a 'cone' beam pulse laser range finder so you need to be aware that the measurement could be for something in the foreground or background depending on where the beam edge hits and the amount of energy returned.

This would be a useful instrument for big spaces and high ceilings that can not be reached by a Disto, but it is a lot of money to drop down a pitch.

Took a look at the Leica Disto3D some time ago. Designed for the building retro-fit and renovation market, it has some useful setting out features.

With a range of 50m, a dust/water protection rating of IP54 and a reported price tag of US$7995, I would suggest it is not for caving.
