I've heard a brief report that there is a big rescue going on down the Berger, where someone has gone missing; does anybody have any further information?

There are several reports in the French press and on the Exped FB page.
It appears he separated from his group at the Canals but there is confliction in the reports as to whether he continued to descend to meet up with a group deeper in the system or he made his way out.
It appears a full scale rescue has been initiated and the gendarme have closed the access rd to Molliere

Google translate still can't get it right this is one quote from the article after I hit translate...

t's a huge stress, he says, there are 200 people there, it's like a family, and this morning there was an atmosphere of puppy, we only thought about it

Glad he is safe and well, and near at the exit, I get the gist from the article.

Puzzled me too.  The original is "une ambiance de chiotte" - if you put this in Google translate, it's "a chilly atmosphere" which makes a bit more sense, until you translate just chiotte" - which apparently is "toilet".

Hmmm....  A toilety atmosphere?  A poopy atmosphere?  Nous avons besoin d'un vrai Francais!
