Great pictures, thanks for posting. Looks like some of them are in the Great Flat Lode, I wonder if there is any more info available beyond the state of the miners undress.

Burrow was an astonishing talented and tenacious photographer, especially when one considers the date and the equipment he used. All save the second image on the link (which is new to me at least) featured in his book 'Mongst mines and miners. Tragically, many of his glass negatives were scraped clean of emulsion and used to build a greenhouse during the Great War.

Even the 1960s reprint of 'Mongst mines and miners is pricey now. Fortunately Barton's Historic Cornish Mining Scenes: Underground which featured many of Burrow's photos is still readily available and has good captions. Many of Burrow's photos have been widely reproduced - they remain among the best mining images ever created.
