Campsites?

Hi all

Is anyone able to recommend a friendly campsite up that way?

Just looking for a base to use for trips until club huts are opened up to the great unwashed.

Moorgarth Farm, on the Settle road just outside Ingleton. Basic but convenient. Stackstead Farm, on the road to Bentham. Caravans but also allows camping, good facilites, walking distance to The Craven Heifer. Can't, in all honesty, recommend Horton in Ribblesdale site in the village, plagued by 3 peakers. Little Stainforth has a big commercial site with a camping field and good amenities. And there's always the Dalesbridge Centre near Austwick.

We love Usha Gap camp site in Swaledale ? a bit out of the way for the main caving area, though. It has recently had a new shower / lavatory block installed, with under-floor heating; there's also a little communal/common room (great when it's not full of DoE kids), and it's an easy walk to the Farmer's Arms in Muker.

In the back garden of Bull pot farm? not sure if they're open.


Also If you're thinking Nidderdale, then the Crown Hotel in lofthouse is open to people camping in their back field.
Or there's camping at Howsteen Gorge.
(don't confuse with the Crown Hotel in Middlesmoor, there are two crown pubs within 1.1 miles of each other!)

I've been considering going family camping this summer when I'm off work. A little research suggests toilet/shower blocks may be closed at certain times for cleaning (obviously dependent on the site). Fridge/freezer facilities are off limits at a few places too, so if you need to keep food cool then a bag+blocks won't last long.
Not helpful for finding sites, just some random notes that may be of use.
