3 Peaks, 3 Pots

This weekend, four of us are going to have a bash and doing the 3 Peaks 3 Pots.

If all goes to plan, we'll be starting early tomorrow in Chapel le Dale, heading up to do King Pot, followed by Whernside. We'll then set off over to Pen-y-Ghent, drop down to do Pen-y-Ghent Pot, followed by a final walk up over Ingleborough before finishing off with Meregill. The plan is to carry all of our caving kit & food, and we won't have anyone coming to give a hand carrying stuff or to top up our food supplies. Weight is being kept to an absolute minimum, not least by using only 8 mm rope!

We're planning on taking a camera with us, and we thought it may be entertaining to update this thread with our progress and maybe a few photos as we go, so watch this space! I suspect it may be character building...or something like that...

I look forward to seeing pictures of a water melon at the various stages of its journey  ;)

Best of luck, hope the weather co-operates according to your preference.

I suspect not.

A long time ago non drinking lentil eating climbers got to trying to out do each other. Hammer Pot became collectable as a solo trip. One Sunday night in the early hours I was the solo Cave Rescue Lead sent into to find one as I then new the pot inside out. Needless to say I was not impressed, he was completely bolloxed but thankfully not that far in. That youth will have given the Dales a wide berth for years to come after what I had to say to him once I had dragged him out.

I was more impressed with a group of lads who got pissed with me one Saturday to the early hours and then one went on to break the then 3 Peaks Race Time yet again the next day. Is it me ? :coffee:

I expect this trip will start off with a Friday night session.  Don't want to make it too easy, do you  ;)

Good luck from me.

Piece o' piss on modern gear (!)  - looking at your itinerary you should manage a few
jars as you pass The Ribblehead and Crown! Good luck.

Badlad and I have done our bit  - I prepared a BBQ and Badlad burnt it all for them

Not sure about 'Leisure time' - Chris drove for 8 hours to get here from London and will be driving back on Sunday

Just heard from the crew as they approached the summit of Penyghent.  They've not had a phone signal so plans to update the thread hasn't happened.

They set off from Chapel le Dale about seven this morning.  Walked over to King Pot and descended that in a leisurely four and a half hours.  Then the big walk up Whernside and on towards Penyghent Peak with heavy sacks.  All four are well and looking forward to Penyghent Pot as a break from the tedium of walking.

Maybe they'll get a signal from there or perhaps they'll be too exhausted by then. :doubt:

The pitch is Bloodaxe in King Henry Hall I'm told by a UKC lurker  :)

Badlad off to collect one of the guys who's not feeling well  :yucky: - if it was the BBQ I blame the chefs.....

One down.  Almost certainly caused by dehydration and the hot sunny day - not to mention the bloody long walk with a great big sack. Three carrying on who set off down Penyghent pot at about 10.30pm.  Then it's up Ingleborough and down Meregill to finish.
