Total Solar Eclipse

A break from cave photog to capture my first total solar eclipse! I saw the annular one in Michigan back in 1994 which where I was I think was 96%. But the difference between 96% and 100% is amazing, it is not linear! So so so glad we traveled to be in totality where it lasted a short 2.5 minutes.

Composite of four frames. Not bad for have zero solar/stellar experience and only a 50mm lens to work with and no solar filter so I made my own from a pair of solar glasses! It even captured the prominances, although one has to pixel peep to see them.

Thanks Amata.  Super pics  (y)

That's better coverage of the eclipse than I've seen from any of the major news channels.  The worst was at a baseball stadium, when it went dark all you could see was the neon lights of an enormous Budwieser sign behind the reporter.

My closeup shots were fuzzy, but not so evident in smaller shots like these (photo editing by MS Paint).  See you in 2024 - I'm in Texas and looking forward to it!

Amata,
What fllter did you use?  I use Pentax DSLRs (burgundy K30 and silver K3) when not using mirrorless, so intrigued how you did it. Brilliant pics.

See photo i posted. I made one with the cheap solar glasses because i dont have $200 for a solar filter.
