I'm more worried about Avoiding Huge Ships, Bedford is, after all on the River Great Ouse, which is navigable to the sea,, well, as far as the town bridge anyway.

The last time we had Ships come all the way up from the sea, they were full of Bloody Vikings, Burning and a Pillaging and generally improving the Town

Pete,

That's a gem of a link!
I liked ''Living With Crazy Buttocks (Kaz Cooke - Penguin)''

What planet are these people on?

Good link - but worryingly, I actually own and have read one of these books, and could see myself reading another two.

1989 (being a sea kayaker and wild camping on small islands), 1994 and 2000 (being a structural engineer)

There is a fuller list on Wikipedia:

I particularly like the winner in 2009:

"Crocheting Adventures with Hyperbolic Planes"

Sounds an excellent present for my needlework mad partner  ;)
