2250 and 6000 Lumens ?

For any that may consider the Scurion 1300 to be not enough light and you really need to blind everyone with a DIY solution. You could try the Luminus SST-90 LED (2250 lumens) or its quad sibling the CSM-360 which is capable of 6000 lumens. There are now a couple of driver boards out there for the SST-90 such as the TaskLED H6Flex($40). Note these LED dies are about $80 and $150 respectively.

Power supply and heatsinking will be interesting issues to deal with.............

This is not an advertisement, just some options to answer the above:
www.taskled.com for an SST-90 driver, H6Flex at $40, just found a website with SST-90 dies for $42 here:

However the pace of development is such that I need to update this post already
ZXPower Z150 is now available for $98 giving up to 12000 lumen

Compact drivers could not be found but hardly surprising given how many watts this thing needs.

The above is getting into cooking eggs on helmet territory or do we invent a new term for such lights, instead of snow-blind, 'led blind' ?

Given the recent rapid development of cave headlights, it appears that this pace will only continue as more companies provide technology capable of replacing CFL and HID bulbs. However very questionable as to whether we really need this much light. My CustomDuo does a good job for most of my caving. Photography needs and big caverns abroad may benefit from the above.

Yes, using something like this would be a bit overkill!  As a photography light it would probably be a bit much too!  But it will only have a benefit on cost per lumen.
