Lathkill Head Upper Entrance

A ?KEEP OUT, TURN BACK.? sign has recently appeared next to the public footpath on the gate which gives permitted access for cavers across private land to Lathkill Head Upper Entrance.  This notice is NOT aimed at cavers - it appears to be aimed at young people on Duke of Edinburgh Award expeditions who get lost at this point - cavers? access is unaffected.

A visit on 20th. April to check on the Upper Entrance found a patch of graffiti on the rock just below the lid, which will be cleaned off a.s.a.p.  In addition, a nut was found to be missing from the lid; this was replaced immediately.  Please remember to fill in the Log Book at the entrance to the cave so that such incidents are recorded and also pass the information on to the DCA Access Officer: access-off [at] theDCA.org.uk so that problems can be rectified.
