Darkness in Horton-in-Ribblesdale

Here's a thing.... if you look at Google street view in the Horton vicinity, you see... nothing.  Just the blackness of the abyss - eg:
https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@54.1484863,-2.2952987,3a,75y,71.83h,90t/data=!3m7!1e1!3m5!1sQl4G6s4Us-6YUeNTztnugw!2e0!6s%2F%2Fgeo2.ggpht.com%2Fcbk%3Fpanoid%3DQl4G6s4Us-6YUeNTztnugw%26output%3Dthumbnail%26cb_client%3Dmaps_sv.tactile.gps%26thumb%3D2%26w%3D203%26h%3D100%26yaw%3D60.734592%26pitch%3D0%26thumbfov%3D100!7i13312!8i6656

I'm a little concerned, as I'm going there today, and as everyone knows, what Google says is unfailingly true....

You can certainly put all your trust in Google Earth. Looking at street view, there's been a white van parked outside our house for weeks now, but can I get the local police to come out and investigate? Disgusting treatment of us local taxpayers!

... and it's still there (or rather, not there), 16 months later.  What have Google got against Horton ?

Looking back in time helps. Don't speed through the darkness! Mobile speed cameras rule the roost there

Solved. I've checked the date the Google drove through Horton - and there was a partial eclipse in Yorkshire that day

That's actually the Yorkshire Hole. It's where all the miserable attitudes of Yorkshire folk comes from. All the miserable bastards go there at least once a week

That webcam is so useful - you can watch any flood come through and get an idea of whether the water is rising or on the wane.
