After a loooong drive down from The Dales, via a day's work in Sheffield we arrived at Churchill this evening.

Many thanks to Kermit who helped us put the UKC stand up  (y)

Very brave of RRCPC to build a stand from scaffolding - do they not know there are diggers about and they love a bit of scaffolding?!  ;) {I have no idea why the photo is sideways  :-[ }

wl

Well that's interesting.

Spotted this poster near the bar  ;)

One way, up only? - Oh I don't think so, not for cavers!

SEE YOU TOMORROW :)

More photos to come as soon as Pegasus sorts her work/work out.  We really enjoyed Hidden Earth this year.  Especially pleased our efforts with the raffle increased participation in the rope competitions - it was a real buzz down there.  Huge thanks to Mark, Dave and Tom for running the comps ever year and apologies for doubling your work load  ;)

While I had the unenviable task of checking out the lectures and keeping in touch with old friends (and new ones), Pegasus manned the stand like a Trojan persuading young and old to give it a go.  I hope many of you met her.  Thanks to all who helped.

Well that was an enjoyable and successful weekend  ;)

I would also like to thank Mark Dave & Tom for helping us run the UKC competition this year - thanks also to Simon, Will and others (sorry I didn't catch you names) who helped out  It was so busy at times we needed the help, thank you! (y) (y)

The 'Cavers Competitions' area was busy every minute of both days this year.  Lots of laughter, lots of learning (especially how to coil a ladder - there was some terrible 'ladder abuse' taking place, however we soon had cavers rolling expertly!).  The knot tying task set by Mark was particularly hard however and many cavers went away knowing more about knots than they did when they arrived  ;)

I was particularly impressed with how many women took part and wow could they zip up the rope climb and along the SRT obstacle course!  An unexpected bonus was how many younger cavers took part or watched with enthusiasm and fascination - we must think of competitions aimed at the youngsters next year.

Mark Wright showing how it's done in the tackle sack stuffing competition:

One of last year's UKC raffle prize winners popped by to say hello wearing her prize - and yes I'd liked the Rab jacket so much I bought one myself  :)

Stuff that tackle sack, climb that rope!

A ladder rolling masterclass from Simon led to there being another expert ladder roller!

I didn't get to see much of the rest of Hidden Earth so will leave others to post updates/photos, however I did like this piece of art :)

...and many thanks to Les and 'Team Hidden Earth for all your hard work  (y)

A few from me from the weekend.

The try dive session went really well.

Huge thanks to everyone for the delegates photo vote, for me it's the one that really counts.

Grear fun with Sid's hilarious after dinner shenanigans and of course the real show stopper the incredible story of the team rescuing the Wild Boars from Tham Luang Nang Non.
I know they hate being called heroes, but if the name fits........
