Human Remains in OFD

In one of the rooms at the SWCC cottage at Penwyllt there is a photo of a human skeleton.
As I understand it it was found in 1946 when OFD1 was first entered (in modern times)

Can anyone shed any light on it:
How old is it?
Is it still there or was it removed for reburial?
Was it found in 'Skeleton Chamber'?
If so this isn't too far from the resurgence - did someone manage to get in through there perhaps before the current boulder choke in the sump formed?

No particular reason for asking other than idle (morbid!) curiosity...

I'll check out the references later, if I have the right ones here, but I am reasonably certain that there is no firm (14C) date for these remains, although I think there was some archaeology. IIRC I think the presumption was that the person probably entered via Pant Canol.

Oh I hate this! Someone starts a thread and unremembered bits of nonsense come screaming back into the memory from oh so long ago!

From my fading recall, the original OFD explorers were surprised to find the skeleton, but, it did link in with an old Swansea Valley folk tale about an itinerent chicken castrator and flute player (although it could have been some form of whistle). One day, the chicken castrator says "I'm going to play my flute inside that hill", and he did, and was never seen again. Or at least not untill they entered OFD...

I'll get me coat...

I heard that the skeleton found was Smith.  Hence the Smithy, Smith's Armoury.

Mind you Torchwood makes me think that there are scarier things in OFD now.......

It was obviously a good place to get legless in times gone by!

Anyone see 'meet the ancestors' last night (Thursday)? A couple of cave divers entered a new area of a 'secret' cave somewhere in Yorkshire and discovered human skeletons, Dated about 3,500 years old!
