In 2012 we held a large-scale clean-up in Grotte de Saint-Anne (Tillf - Belgium)

The Video was posted several times on this forum  (https://sites.google.com/site/speleovig/Environnement/operation-mr-propre-a-ste-anne)

Last Week-end a small team (2 persons) went back for some additional cleaning.

It's our intention to repeat these small scale clean-up actions the coming years until the cave is completely clean again.

This post only has an informational purpose to show what can be done and how, and hopefully this encourage other cavers.

Thanks, Leclused - it reminded me (again!) of perhaps trying to get a similar large scale clean-up organised at Pridhamsleigh Cavern here in the UK where years of mud-throwing* has caked the walls of Lake Chamber and it would be great to see it returned to its former glory which shouldn't be too difficult (the hard part would be getting power but it wouldn't be *that* hard, as it might be a charm if a pressure-washer could be used) - there's plenty of water available nearby!

* Contrary to BCA Ethical Caving/Conservation Code.

Already have four of those (2 live in caves, ready to use). However for Pridhamsleigh, if a pressure washer isn't available, you'll also need at least one of these, since most of the mud splats on the walls are beyond tippy-toe distance:

These are not ?15.

Since my last post here about this clean-up further clean-up trips were done during the previous months.

In the latest write-up you can see a before and after photo

http://scavalon.blogspot.be/2015/06/sainte-anne-nu-een-jaartje-geduld.html

Several write-ups about this clean-up http://scavalon.blogspot.be/search/label/Grotbescherming

Now we have to wait a few years to see if the walls become white again by the restored waterflow.

There is still a lot of work in this cave but step by step the cave will become clean and white again

A new year a new clean-up :)

Over the years our club has been working in cleaning stalls/restoring waterflows in Grotte Sainte-Anne (Tillf-Belgium)

A report of the last trip can be found here

http://scavalon.blogspot.be/2017/03/zoveelste-schoonmaakdag-in-sainte-anne.html

With some first natural restoring results where the 'gours' to which the waterflow was restored (see previeous articles) are becoming white again by new calcite deposits.

Next actionday is upcoming saterday 11/3.

A while ago we held a next clean-up day in "Saint-Anne" cave in Belgium. And this time we took the change of inviting some youngsters and give them a introduction in cave conservation.  In the beginning of the clip Paul gives an introduction of what/how/why to the young cavers. (Sorry it is in dutch). Then some action footage is shown with at the end (7:40) some overview  footage of the result of that day. Before we started it was all black.
