Stayed up at Bull Pot Farm a couple of weekends ago (thanks to the Red Rose guys for thier hospitality :drink: ).
Whilst there I heard the term Derbyshite applied to our beloved caving area in the south pennines.
Derbyshite :cuss:

I did remind them that the deepest pitch in the UK is in Derbyshire at which point a load of handbags appeared and I got told that Titan did not count as it is artificial
I forgot to mention that the deepest sump is also in Derbyshire

Derbyshite Grrrrrrrr :twak:

this could start a war - well upset the peace negotiations :argue:
but come on, what is real caving? wandering around huge cavernous passages P bolted to death ticking their little train spotter style books. been there - done that, very good.

Or getting stuck into some good honest hard flat out crawling or wending your way carefully through some heneous boulderchoke to arrive rest and gazing at a rarely visited fairy grotto.

I point you in the directon of julians cartoon - says it all.

So the fact that it was the deepest underground shaft when they came in from below counts for nothing eh

Obviously South Wales is the premier caving region!!!!

largest cave passage (and second and third largest...)
deepest cave
soon to be longest (if anyone bothered digging in Draenen...)
arguably best formations (otter hole and Ogof Craig a Ffynnon)
