Please be advised that the route through the second tube is temporarily closed, don't try it unless you want steel RSJs down on your head!

A diversion route to skipway and upper stopes is by turning right before the barrier I have put across the level and left at the 'rail bridge'. Left again to an obvious climb up and follow your nose to the main ladderway up and down.

This is part of the ongoing work to secure continuation of access.

Steel road is now open, knocked out the shutting this weekend.

I am moving the truck to the rear but have struggled badly, eventually got it back about 8 feet. The wheels would rock but not turn, got one off with WD 40 and a lot of leverage and found it free, but could not get it back on again. I did eventually by propping the bucket if that's the correct term.

What has actually happened is that the timber chassis has rotted allowing the bucket to drop onto the wheels. The whole thing is very wobbly and can only be moved by levering each wheel alternately.
To compound matters it was off the rails, rails were partially removed and out of line. I used a temporary rail to get it to move.

Truck moved 8 feet, whole weekend and a bad back, but that life.

Please do not touch it, I will get it further back eventually and get some photos of the finished project.

Only route to main ladder is still through Bell Chamber due to a recent fall reported in another thread, but skipway and Roman level accessible by a new easy walk through route, enjoy.

Finally finished, truck back to where I wanted it and roadway clear.
The area beyond Steel Road is drained, but the accumulated silt is gathering in the main cross cut outbye and may need dealing with in the future, but looking good.

Looks good.  Could get a few quid for all that scap.

Have fun removing it, strawberry jam for tea tonight.

I tell a little secret.
There was a timber sticking down that appeared to be holding everything up that's above. This was in the way of the left hand span, looking inbye, so I had to cut a sort of notch to get the span in. When the spans were in place the fall material was mucked out, side walls built up from packwork and concrete, and the protruding timber cut off to make my road.

So question.
What do you think is now supporting all the broken timbers and tons of rock above?

Magic, and sheer willpower of anyone who happens to be below it?  ;)

A. The left hand steel span by the 'notch' I cut out.

When it was all mucked out, I pondered on this question, as the fallen rock etc must have obviously been supporting the timber. And then the sudden realisation.
Look at the pic which is from a blow up.
